Most successful and acclaimed RSPB film ever made

White-tailed eagle flying with fish

Already a winner of several industry awards, 'The Eagle Odyssey' has become the RSPB's greatest film success in its long history of wildlife film-making. The RSPB's 'The Eagle Odyssey' charts the struggles of the UK's largest breeding bird of prey, the white-tailed eagle.

‘Being judged favourably by your peers is the biggest compliment,’ Mark Percival, RSPB film producer, explains. ‘It makes all the hard work and painful memories of missed opportunities worthwhile.

‘This was topped recently by the news that our film, The Eagle Odyssey, had won the award for Best Script, against worldwide competition, at Wildscreen 2004, the largest and most prestigious wildlife film festival in the world.’

More recently still, the film went on to scoop the Grand Prix Best Film award at the world’s premier ornithological film festival, held each year at Menigoute in France, and two more awards at the Valvert European Wildlife Film Festival in Belgium (most popular film and Best Story).

Its four awards at three festivals, plus a deal with the BBC and good sales of video and DVD copies, makes this the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful RSPB film ever made.

The BBC Natural History Unit was so impressed with the RSPB’s new sea eagle footage that they paid us to revise the material into a Natural World programme, broadcast on BBC2 in February 2004.
